Build of Testors Lincoln Mint 1932 Ford Roadster, kit no. 7121

I bought Testors Flat Red paint and it looks much better to me on the block. I also bought a small bottle of Testors Flat Steel and I like it better for the aluminum parts. It's a little darker and has a little less silver metallic. It seems to cover better. I'm making up my own color scheme here so it may not be 100% accurate but I'd rather have it be pleasing to the eye.

Flat Steel for this piece, would've been easier to paint separately before gluing but live and learn

I started dry fitting some of the parts and found a problem in the engineering of the kit. Placing the left and right valve covers as they are shown in the instructions puts the nasty area where I cut the piece off the sprue on the outside of the engine, in plain view. Because this is a chromed part it's hard to clean up, you can't really paint it, you can only hide it which is what should have happened when they engineered the kit assembly. I'm going to fix that.

By cutting off the locating pins I can switch the valve covers and put the ugly sprue attachment point on the inside of the engine where it will be covered by the intake. That also puts the other attachment point against the firewall where it will be less obvious.
